Trade Opportunities

Traffic Control Person (TCP)

The Traffic Control Person (TCP) is responsible for setting-up traffic control zones and controlling vehicle flow, while coordinating traffic around construction zones. The TCP will also assist with adjusting work zone equipment, while remaining vigilant to be able to respond to emergency situations and hazards.

 

Lane Closure Technician (LCT)

The Lane Closure Technician (LCT) will focus on planning, setting up signs and cones, and closing up lanes. The LCT will also be responsible for traffic control regulations, removing physical work zones and traffic control devices, even creating on-site traffic plans.

 

Labourer

The Labourer is a critical member to the team and a starting point for most employees at CUC. Labourers will provide support performing general labour duties while working on underground natural gas line installations. This includes, but is not limited to: digging, trenching, swamping, sweeping, packing, operating basic construction equipment and/or driving a van/vehicle, as well as other duties as assigned. A valid Class 7 Driver’s License as a minimum, plus a clean driving record, is required, and prior civil experience is considered an asset.

 

Equipment Operator

The Equipment Operator will be responsible for operating equipment around high pressure underground natural gas lines in tight areas. Equipment operation experience is required having used the following: rubber tire backhoe’s, trackhoes, and mini excavators. A valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence, plus a clean driving record is required; any other operating tickets are also considered an asset.

 

Class 1 or 3 Truck Driver

The Class 1 or 3 Truck Driver will be responsible for driving single, multi-axle and/ or dump trucks in support of our natural gas distribution projects. In addition, this position may be required to load equipment, tow trailers, and perform physical work with the rest of the crew at the job site. A valid Class 1 or Class 3 Driver’s Licence, with Trailer Endorsement, plus a clean driving record is required.

 

Gasfitter

The Gasfitter position will work with our install teams on meter moves, reg changes, relights and customer service. The Gasfitter will be responsible for pipe fitting on new and existing meter sets and ensuring all work is following code and customer requirements. A valid Class 5 Driver’s License, plus a valid Gas Fitter “B” Ticket/ Certification is considered an asset.

 

Asphalt Saw Trainee

In addition to asphalt cutting, they will be trained in a variety of related skills including construction site safety, traffic safety, work planning, & utility locating.  The Saw Trainee will work throughout the lower mainland, however, the day will start and end at our Coquitlam yard near North Road and Lougheed.  Our staff enjoy a diverse workplace where all are encouraged to grow through training and hands-on experience. 

 

Fuser

The Fuser will be responsible for performing fusions on plastic pipe systems with live gas and ensuring that customer requirements for the fusion procedures are followed precisely. In addition, this position is responsible for documenting reports associated with work carried out including field reports, work orders, and pressure test affidavits. Valid or expired Fusion ticket  is an asset. Valid Class 5 Drivers License is required.
